October 24, Taichung, 5:00 pm:
“ I’m sorry I can’t go to Taipei tonight. I am afraid I will be missing the concert, I’m sorry.”
“Will you be alright? We’ll miss you.”
“Yeah...”
I was told that we have middle seated tickets near the stage.
I then explained why I can’t attend. My right ankle was swollen. And l was limping badly. And with the concern of traveling and having to go back to Taichung early morning the next day was not a practical move for someone looking forward to the a good presentation. ( I was in Taichung for an asean conference as a participant and presenter.)
Bummer really. I was looking forward to the concerts. Sigh. I guess I just have to pull out another life principle, “Enjoy what is in the offing; you never know what treat it will be”. I instead attended a cultural presentation of Taiwan’s indigenous tribe, an altogether different high -definitely not in FRH's concert realm- and that was one wonderful and awesome experience!
October 25- Taipei 5:00 pm:
‘U better take ur things to venue than back & forth. Wait me at station I go with u. Sms u when I arr’… a sms from my friend who will pick me up at the train station. Right after my academic presentation, a friend dropped me off at the Taichung train station so I can take the speed train to Taipei. 45 minutes after, Rachel picked me up and we proceeded to the venue. There I met Yung, Cass, Sen, Nat and other HK friends.
“Hey, you missed a wonderful concert yesterday! You should have come!”… A comment I kept on hearing the whole time we were together. I arrived with my big black traveling bag, red bag full of conference goodies, my light board bag and my limping gait. I was there a little past 6 pm, lining up because we will be in the rock and roll section. They were worried if I will be fine standing up the whole concert and jestingly answered that wild horses can’t chase me away. They teased me if I will be cheering for Aaron, and in my confusion asked them why they have that thought. So I got out my light board and showed them what I will be holding in the entire concert, isn’t that a declaration enough?
